Does something feel not quite right? Do you know everyone that your partner has been with in the past? Our registered nurse is available to administer a simple urine test and treatment for the most two common STIs—Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
Half of sexually active persons will contract an STD/STI by age 25. Most people do not have any symptoms even when they are infected or the symptoms are dismissed as another problem. Left untreated, STIs can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and infertility. The only way to know if you have an STI is to get tested!
Also your STI test results expire every time you have risky sex (aka sex outside of a committed, monogamous relationship, marriage). Most treatments do not protect you from getting the same infection again. A course of medication may cure gonorrhea and chlamydia, but a new exposure can start a new infection. If your partner is not treated, you can continue to pass infections back & forth. And if you’re not taking the right precautions to protect yourself, you can be re-infected quickly or even pick up a second STI.
Crossroads offers free, confidential medical services pertaining to sexually transmitted infections (STIs). However, referrals for further evaluation and treatment may be necessary. Our first 30 STI clients will receive a $10 Sheetz gift card.
